The issue of underachievers is long-standing common educational issue.At the junior high school stage,in accompany with the dramatic changes in students’ mind and body,the course burden keeps aggravation.The conflicts in the perspectives of discipline,study,teachers-student relationship and parent-student relationship are increasingly aggravated.The occurring ratio and the number of underachievers also rise continually.The most common student group demonstrates as those underachievers who possess normal intelligence level but lag in academic performance and are difficult to be improved.Meanwhile,the educational conditions at all districts are very different.The study-underachievers at different regions embody some geological features.On this basis,this paper starts from the overall conditions of the study-underachievers in the second development circle and the third development circle of Chengdu City,explores the formative factors of study-underachievers according to the group features of study-underachievers and comes up with the pertinent transforming strategies.It is of great practical significance.On this basis,this paper comes up with the definition of study-underachievers by summarizing the related research achievements of study-underachievers.The so-called study-underachievers refer to those students who possess the normal intellectual conditions and learning opportunities and can be improved by taking correct measures although the existing situations do not match the active conditions.Relying on this definition,this paper makes theoretical analysis on the formative factors and transforming strategy on study-underachievers from metacognition,human-orientation and attribution theory.Then,the paper focuses on the second and the third circle layer of Chengdu city and makes sampling survey on some middle schools in this region.The paper finds that the ratio of girls among study-underachievers is lower than that ofboys generally.The ratio of graduation grade,the Grade Nine,has the highest ratio of study-underachievers.It shows the tendency that ratio of study-underachievers rises with the grades.Meanwhile,specifically,study-underachievers suffer from the issues of vague studying objectives,lack of studying plan,absence of learning will,strong weary emotion of learning,poor studying habits,inefficient learning methods,autism of learning process,insufficiency of learning cooperation,insufficiency of learning reflection and irrationality of result attribution.Moreover,the paper explores the reasons forming of study-underachievers from the perspectives of families,schools and society.Finally,the paper proposes the solutions from the improvement of teacher-student relationship,guidance of rational attribution,training learning ability and structuring harmonious teacher-student relationship.By examining the effectiveness of strategies in educational experiment,some differences have been made between the original classes and experimental classes.The result shows the effectiveness of strategies and the preliminary success of teaching experiment.
