For a long time,China's higher education resources are mainly concentrated in the more developed urban areas,most college students will enter on the road away from home when they attend university.Because of the huge differences in development among different regionals,theroad leaving away from home does not only mean the transfer of space,but also means the turning point of their fate,and the opportunity which they rooted into the wonderful outside world.But in recent years,with the employment of college students have become increasingly prominent,central cities and developed areas in the cost of living increases and other reasons,college students to stayin the outside world seems to become more difficult;at the same time,as the adjustment of national employment policies and regional development policies,the encouragement of friends and relatives,students to return home seems to become more easy.In this case,the phenomenon of the graduates returning home is gradually happening,more and more graduates began to embark on the return journey.The author attempts to analysis how the individual life and social structure embedded in each other,and also to understand the connotation of college students returning phenomenon in-depth,in the study framework of personal life and social structure,from the perspective of the Life course theory.The author taken qualitative research method and selected ten returning home college students from Lintao County of Gansu Province to analyzing the journey of College students returning home and their self-identity.The study found:1.The journey of college students returning home as an important component of the life course is consisted of the "return path" and "key events in returning home ".If their aspiration of returning home is different,their journey of returning home is also unlike.From the difference of returning home willingness,the colleges students returning home can be divided into four types: the active returning home,the submissive returning home,the compromised returning home and the forced returning home.2.Students' self-identity state in process of returning home have following categories,clear identity,blurred identity,identity closure,identity crisis,identity reshaping and identity realization.The conscious type students' self-identity changing process is: clear identity identity crisis identity reshaping identity realization.The submissive type and the compromised type students' self-identity changing process are: blurred identity identity closure identity crisis identity reshaping.The forced type students' self-identity changing process is: clear identity identity crisis identity reshaping.3.The key events making people in identity crisis are different.For the four types the key events are go out to work,failing exams,return to work and return home employment in order.4.According to the content and level of the factors,the influence factors making college students in identity crisis included these types: regional environmental factors,psychosocial factors,job factors,family factors and personal factors.5.The internal mechanism that critical incident caused self-identity changes is inseparable from the social structure,fields and individual participation.It used the macro social structure and the micro individual factors in common to promote individual intrinsic self-identity changes.These changes display as the rupture of the original identity and the generation of the new identity.6.The reshaping of college students' self-identity has been through the following three stages: acceptance and adaptation,reflection and inspection,change and remodeling.In the whole process,they use the strategies of reference to comfort,self-attribution,goal orientation,reconstruction and so on.
