This article uses the literature material law to read 41 related articles, expert interview, questionnaire survey, mathematical statistics and other research methods to study and analyze the present teaching situation of the essential basketball course of P.E. students in ten colleges and universities in Fujian province and the basketball teaching in primary schools and secondary schools. The study mainly includes teaching objects, teaching content, teaching methods, teaching assessment, in order to show that it is necessary for the teaching of physical education professional basketball general course in colleges and universities to adapt actively to the basketball teaching in primary schools and secondary schools. The results showed that:Firstly, the teaching outlines of the essential basketball course of P.E. students in ten colleges and universities in Fujian province basically set the teaching objects:cultivate qualified teachers in primary and secondary schools. But in fact, basketball teachers in the colleges and universities only pay attention to teach students basketball technology, ignoring students' physical and mental health, which don't achieve the teaching objects in sports and health course. To some extent, the graduates will just teach students' basketball skills and knowledge in primary and secondary schools, which is difficult to adapt the needs of achieving the sports and health curriculum goals.Secondly, the content in the essential basketball course is too much and a little difficult for students to study. What's worse, it doesn't consider students' learning foundation. It gives priority to basketball skills teaching and ignores the cultivation of students' teaching ability. That brings about some problems. Some students'learning foundation is poor and they have to spend most of time on basketball skills and knowledge because of the limited course hours, so they will have no more time to develop their abilities of cultivating human and health with teachers.Thirdly, the basketball teaching methods in the essential basketball course are too single, which still pay attention to the traditional explanation, demonstration, practice, error correction and some other traditional methods. Those kinds of methods can't make undergraduates learn some other modern teaching methods such as self-study, research and cooperation. Therefore, to a certain extent, the situation makes P.E. graduates difficult to meet the needs of the diversity of basketball teaching methods in primary and secondary schools.Fourthly, teachers'evaluation takes the leading position in the basketball teaching assessment and evaluation of the essential basketball course. This kind of evaluation is one-sided because it doesn't evaluate the students' progress in the learning process and theirlearning attitude. Therefore, to a certain extent, graduates will use the same teaching evaluation when they teach basketballs in primary and secondary schools.Teaching reform measures of the essential basketball course:Firstly, update teaching ideas. Set up "health first" and " human education "as the main goals.Secondly, the selection of teaching content should consider the students' learning foundation and meet the needs of basketball teaching in primary and secondary schools.Thirdly, teaching methods should be diversified. They should not only make students master some sports skills, but also help achieve the goals of teaching students to develop their physical and mental health.Fourthly, teaching assessment should be diversified both in the summative assessment and process assessment.
