With the rapid development of information technology and the Internet,the educational model has been changed and faced with challenges continuously.In this context,the massive open online courses(MOOCs)have become the newest form of informatilized education and created a trend all over the world in both research and practical domain.From the MOOCs boom phenomenon,returning to the calm reflections,we have found that the fine and long-term development of MOOCs depends largely on their design quality,and the MOOCs videos,as the main presentation form of the course content,thus become extremely important.This dissertation focuses on the MOOCs videos under the cross-culture context,and takes out the research on the French MOOCs videos,trying to explore their characteristics and development process,in the attempt to provide a reference for the MOOCs practice and the audio-visual education development of our country.The research has been divided into three problems:(1)What are the elements most worthy to be analyzed in the MOOCs videos?(2)What are the advantages or characteristics of the French MOOCs videos by taking efSUP course as an example?(3)What are the conceptions and the processes through the French MOOCs videos production?These three questions are inter-related and can go more profound from one to another.Through them,we will gradually deepens the understanding and analysis on the French MOOCs videos.The research first makes a literature review on the existing studies of MOOCs videos,including online education and educational videos,so as to find the theoretical basis and construct the video analysis framework then the analysis table.Using this analysis table,the research conducts a text content analysis on the efSUP course videos to explore French MOOCs videos' characteristics.Finally,the production processes of efSUP videos have been studied by an anthropological method,in order to reveal the concepts behind them,after which the discussion about their relations with the videos' characteristics has been presented.Through this empirical study,we found that the elements most important to be analyzed in the MOOCs videos can be divided into two parts:"Instructional design" and"Media quality".The content and form of the videos are inseparable and all have significant influences on the teaching effect.Based on the existing studies,this research analyzes the four elements of "Instructional design":"learning granularity","video type","teaching strategy" and "video resource organization".In the "Media quality" dimension,"figure","shooting","documentory text ","visual text" and "auditory text" are the five elements analyzed.Through the analysis of these nine elements in the above two dimensions,this research finds that the videos of efSUP course as the French MOOCs example,have the following main characteristics:(1)excellent instructional design,(2)good combination of pluralism and unity,(3)good combination of simplicity and clarity.Correspondent to the research on the videos characteristics,an anthropological research have been carried out on the production process of efSUP course videos,by using the"actor network theory"(ANT),proposed by the French scientific sociologist Bruno Latour.The production process has been studied on four aspects:"formation of groups","actions","contact" and "intervention of materials",and the conclusion has been made that the characteristics of the French MOOCs videos can be explained for three reasons:"the dominance of professional education team","the centralization and decentralization in the production of course" and "the balance between the cost and the quality".From these findings,the research offers three advices for the development of MOOCs and audio-visual education in our country:(1)emphasize the teaching effect on MOOCs design,(2)develop audio-visual education resources under the layout of national level(3)form a human and resource sharing network of high efficiency.Through the analysis,we have also found some weaknesses in the French MOOCs videos,for example,the audio-visual aspect still needs to be improved.Unavoidably,the MOOCs videos made in France are not perfect.But there still exist numerous good elements which worth to be studied.We can also have a reflection on the existing problems,in order to learn from the advantages and try to avoid the potential disadvantages.
