“MOOCs”(MOOCs: Massive Open Online Courses,referred to as: MOOCs)is a new teaching method based on the modern communication,computer and internet technology.The flourish of MOOCs brings stirring revolution on transformation of teaching methods,patterns and concepts of education,also makes profound impact toward the talent training and social development.The opportunities,challenges as well as strength and disadvantages of MOOCs also occupy the attention from the society from all walks of life.The main object of this dissertation is the application of MOOCs in the higher education,using the methodology of Marxist philosophy and philosophy of science and technology,and modern education theory.In this article,the author made some reflection upon MOOC concepts,conducted research on its history of development,and concluded the main characteristics of MOOCs as massive,internet based,open,unstructured and autonomic.This article also discussed the theoretical basis of MOOCs,as behaviorism,cognitivism,constructivism and connectionism.The author claimed MOOC is a new teaching concept by emphasizing students priority,new teaching technology built upon basis of internet + concept,and a new teaching mode of flipped classroom.The nature and function of MOOCs have made much deeper exploration through the research developed in this article by the dialectical contradiction analysis from the perspectives of practical operation process,commonness and individuality,online and offline,professionalism and combination,and the inheritance and innovation of MOOCs.In the end,the author offered some solutions to promote the healthy development of MOOCs in China from the dimension of governments,universities and the society in whole.The author hopes this research can make certain contribution toward enrichment and depth of the academic study on MOOCs teaching methods,concepts,patterns,and regulatory changes.The author also hopes this article can make some constructive recommendations toward practical application of MOOCs.
