As one part of aesthetics education,music education plays an important role in developing students' personality and active attitude toward life.This paper presents the study on the gap of music education between urban and rural middle schools in Hohhot Huimin District.The real reflection of the music education and some practical strategies for the existing problems will improve the music education and offer students more musical resources.The existing problems in these two typical schools are common in other ones.Therefore,narrowing the gap of music education between urban and rural middle schools is beneficial to the development of music education.From the study,it shows that the music education in rural schools doesn't lag behind urban ones in every aspects.There are some advantages.But it depends on the teaching standards,students' quality and schools' attitude toward the subject.The key point is to improve the teachers' teaching standards and attitude.This paper mainly focuses on the former one and the latter one can be improved by other factors.The first part tells the implementation of the New Curriculum Standard and the education status.The test on students and interviews with teachers show that the B Middle School is superior to S Middle School in mastering the teaching content,especially in the performance of musical elements.For the implementation of the New Curriculum Standard,these two schools reach the basic level.The S Middle School is slightly worse than the other.For the teaching,these two schools are lack in reading music and solfeggio.According to the learning status,the teachers in S middle school simplified the training on compiling exercises.However,B middle school fails to do that.In the second part,the results of the questionnaire shows that students in S middle school are more interested in learning music than the ones in No.8 Middle School.They have different opinions on music and they are more desire to perform in class.All the students listen to the music a lot,but the students in B Middle School choose more pluralistic music.There are more students in B Middle School who take after-school class to learn music and spend more time on learning music.Therefore,the parents in these two schools have great gap of musical consciousness and investigation.In the last part,this paper shows the strategies of narrowing the gap between urban and rural schools from schools and teachers.Instead of solving the problems by waiting for the government and other departments,this paper also provides the strategies that schools and teachers can solve the problems easily and efficiently.
