Under the backgroud of basic education reform, motivatedby the music new curriculum reform, from the perspective ofprimary school’s music education, the study tracked tenschools’ principals, music teachers, students and some oftheir parents in City A as case study. The implementationsituation of the new curriculum reform of primary schools inCity A is objectively reflected. To make the survey objectiveand true, this study adopted a series of investigation methodswhich include attending classes, having symosium with musicteachers and interviewing individually, etc. The quality andtraining of primary school music teachers, the situations ofteaching facilities and management, especially after theimplementation of the new curriculum standards, schools andteachers’ transformation on the idea of education are studiedin the thesis. And the implementation of new curriculum contentin music teaching, evaluation, the reactions of teachers andstudents on the new curriculum, the off-class activities andthe status of teachers’ scientific researches are alsoinvestigated, to present the overall situations of primaryschools music teaching in City A. On this basis, the thesis offers some personal advice for solving the various problemsin the music teaching in City A’s primary schools. Hopefully,it would help to inspire the implementation and enforcement ofmusic new curriculum standards in City A and other regions. Itprovides some reference for the music teachers for a betterteaching and improving their qualities and research abilitiesas well as for the promotion of music teaching in compulsoryeducation.
