Poetry is inseparable from images, and the understanding of each poem starts from theimage interpretation. Classical Chinese aesthetics believes that there are three states in poetrywhich can be divided into “content conception”,“artistic conception” and “passion conception”in terms of different appreciations of the beauty. It not only tells that the interpretation of thepoem text is of different levels, but also tells us that when we try to interpret a poem, we shoulddo according to the three levels–“content”,“art” and “passion”. The interpretation of “contentconception” is actually the ones about the images in poems, only through which can the poetsexpress all their emotions.Poetry, as an essence of excellent traditional Chinese culture, has its own features. On theone hand, the words in a poem itself have extreme generality. In some poems, the content is notconnected with each other, and there are jumpy lines, which may affect the connection withemotions. As a result, while teaching poetry, according to the main idea of the poem, teachers aresupposed to master the poet’s emotion, activate the students, encourage them to imagine freelywhat the poet wants to express, and make them try to experience the poet’s feeling andunderstand the real meaning. On the other hand, poems include a special kind of image, which isa product of the mixture of the poet’s emotion and the objective things, which can produce amisty sense of beauty and inspire students’ emotions. So in the process of teaching, by theanalysis of the images, teachers can stimulate students’ imagination to feel and make sense of thepoet’s emotion. For example, in the teaching of the verses–“With so much spring in the garden,how can it be contained? A spray of red apricot blossom has already reached over the wall”,teachers can create effectively the situation, with the help of explaining and reciting, to stimulatestudent’s imagination and make the students feel deeply the spring full of vitality and the poet’sdeep love of spring.Emotion is the essence in poetry, which can be regarded as the vitality of poetry. Each poemcontains the poets’deep emotion, without which poems have no value, so the teaching of poetryis actually the teaching of emotion. The most important thing in teaching poetry is participatingin the emotion and state. By making the students understand with reasonable reasons andmoving them with emotion, teachers can lead students to the situation with passionate emotion. Only by mixing the teachers’emotion and the poet’s emotion together can the students feel thereal emotion the poet expresses in the poetry and have the same feeling with the poet. Only bystimulating students’ emotion can they find the charm of the poetry, find the beauty in their life,have a hunger for expressing and creating the “beauty”, refine their mind, build great characterand improve the overall qualities.China’s ancient poetry is the essence of our national culture and also a bright pearl in thefield of world culture and art. It is like beautiful flowers, beautifying our mind. The verses in theclassical Chinese poetry, which have won universal praise, are of broad and profound meanings,catchy, touching, rhythmical and is worth reading a hundred times, making people get affectedunconsciously. For example, when we read the verses“Where are the ancient people? And wherethose of future time? The sky and land never end, Here am I alone to shed tears”, Chen Ziang’spassion can still make us excited. The teaching of poetry is a kind of emotion education, whichcan enrich students’ soul experience, cultivate their taste and help them feel the beauty ofemotion. By the influence of the beautiful poetry works and the education of the beauty,students’ ability and interest in appreciating the beauty are able to be formed and improved, andtheir beautiful mind and thus the great personality are able to be built.
