Obtaining employment is a very important event for every student in higher vocational colleges. But now, there are some vocational college students appeared to be not interested in their professional. They do not know about their employment objectives, and also confused about future employment. The social cognitive career theory(SCCT)points out that a person's interest in a particular occupation is determined by its self-efficacy and outcome expectancy.Vocational interest,self-efficacy,and outcome expectancy will promote to establish career goals together. The goal also will promote action, and achieve a good job performance. In this study,we designed a randomized controlled trial.30 participants are invited from one of higher vocational colleges in Nanjing.Applying SCCT,we intervened two variables through group work which is one of work method in social work. The two variables are career self-efficacy and career outcome expectancy. The result of differences tests after intervening shown that there are significant differences between the experimental group and the control group. The two variables were improved in the experimental group. We also have a follow-up visited with experimental group, and it shown that the students'professional interests, career goals and the behavior of vocational choice have been affected. This study proved that SCCT has been verified. If someone's career self-efficacy and career outcome expectancy have been intervened, his career interests and career goals and the behavior of vocational choice have been affected. The study also shown that the group work is an effective intervention method, which can improve the students' career self-efficacy and career outcome expectation.
