A Practical Study On Social Work Intervention In The Career Preparation Of Graduates Of Marine Majors

As we all know,seafarers are an indispensable human resource for shipping companies.With the proposal of the "Establishing Marine Power" strategy,the development of the entire shipping industry has been promoted,but meanwhile,a higher standard has been established of the quality requirements for seafarers.As an advanced Maritime Institution in my country,School D bears the responsibility of cultivating high-quality seafarers for the nation’s shipping industry.As a special group,graduates of maritime majors should receive extensive attention from schools,enterprises and society regarding their professional readiness.On the one hand,it can promote the development of the country’s shipping economy.On the other hand,it can improve the professional quality of maritime graduates and help them better adapt to shipboard work.It also plays a decisive role in the development of the entire crew of seafarers.For the purpose of assisting maritime graduates to be well prepared for their careers,promoting their personal growth,and facilitating the development of China shipping industry,improving the practical research of group social work involved in the professional preparation of maritime graduates,this study is based on the research of maritime graduates.Starting from the authentic data regarding career preparation of maritime graduates,and based on social support theory and advantage perspective theory,the present study uses the professional methods of group social work,and literature review as well as questionnaire survey and interviews to investigate the problems and influences of maritime professional graduates in terms of career preparation and then design and implement activity plan to help them prepare for their careers.It is observed from the intervention of group social work that the intervention is to some degree significant and effective in helping the graduates of the navigation major to improve their readiness for the career.Various group activities are designed in this research to help group members improve their interpersonal skills and,acquire some communication skills,and at the same time help them gain more ways to release negative emotions.Also,relevant resources links are established to help them understand their future careers more sufficiently,and promote their own personal growth capabilities.Based on the results of the group assessment and literature analysis,this paper proposes that the government should improve the social status of seafarers,while at the same time promote a good professional reputation to attract students to this career.We must also protect the legitimate rights and interests of seafarers and maintain the healthy development of the shipping industry.Schools should add relevant vocation preparation courses improve the employment guidance for maritime majors;and at the same time strengthen school-enterprise cooperation.The students should maintain a positive attitude,take active part in vocational training,and improve their vocational ability.
