Case Study Of Rural Left Behind Elderly In The Perspective Of Empowerment Theory

In today 's society,where the aging population is becoming more and more huge,with the acceleration of urbanization and the change of urban-rural dual structure,the gap between urban and rural areas is becoming more and more obvious.In the western Liaoning region,the degree of agriculturalization is low,the land is barren and the number of people is small,which resulting in a large number of young and middle-aged rural surplus labor force in the rural areas of western Liaoning to get more job opportunities in order to protect and improve the quality of the life and the economic level.In rural areas,a large number of the old people,whose children become migrant workers,can not live with their children in the city because of the household registration system,health and life and other reasons,which resulting in more and more old people.For now,the old-age system of China's rural areas is not perfect and not robust.And this issue has benn paid attention by the community.In this paper,it takes an in-depth interview of the old in Lingyuan City,Liaoning Province with the use of empowerment theory,which provides the basic situation of the old and a principle to sort them.It picks up three different levels of empowerment theory: the empowerment of the individual level,the empowerment of the interpersonal relationship and the empowerment of the social participation level.And these were also selected for the principle to service the three old people with significant characteristics.The old are facing different dilemmas for social work professional services and intervention.In the western Liaoning region,whether the backward in the development of agriculture,or the ideological closure,are making the old-caring become a common problem in the western region,Through the empowerment of the old,you can make the old control of their own life and mental state better and get a more active and more able to lead their own ability to live self-consciousness and improve the quality of self-life.And the children of the old usually stay in the city because of work,where has long distance from the countryside,that lead to the old people living alone lonely.Or some children and the old living near but they do not want to fulfill the obligation to support the old through the interpersonal level of empowerment,which makes the old in the process of interaction with others to obtain a certain self-favorable conditions and the environment,At the same time,it can also bring the old a certain degree of equality and the environment in the daily.The economic development of the western Liaoning region is uneven,many rural areas don't put the implementation of the policy is in place,In the survey that many rural old people apply for subsistence allowances,but they didn't get the corresponding subsidies issued,Through the empowerment of the old at the level of social participation and take the investigation to the common problems staying in this group.And it fights for a way to express self-interest and rights of the old and keep the old people be treat with equal and fair treatment.In the view of the specific situation of rural old in western Liaoning,we can use empowerment theory to guide and help the old to face themselves and the lack of life,so that the old can rely on the theory of intervention to solve their own problem since order to eliminate some of the negative factors caused by subjective factors.So that the theory of empowerment can be better applied to the lives of the old and pay more attention to the needs of them to improve the quality of life of the old in their later years.
