Fiction,greatly favored by students for its twisting and vivid plot as well as colorful characters,is an important genre in textbooks of Chinese in senior high school.Meanwhile,fictional teaching plays an irreplaceable role not only in helping students absorb the spirit of our traditional culture and understand the historical and cultural landscape of different races,but also in improving students' ability in appreciating literary reading and writing.In addition,it also enables students to form right view of the world,life and value.However,currently the teaching of fiction in senior high school is far from satisfaction.The study,taking Xiayi senior high school in Henan province as an example,has revealed some problems existing in fiction reading class.In terms of teaching content,the key points and focal points are not so obvious.Besides,the guidance for text interpretation is not that interesting and thus ineffective.As for the misinterpretation by students,teachers did not pay due attention and correct them.Based on the questionnaire on students,we have found most of them like the texts selected in the textbooks but they dislike fiction reading class.Meanwhile,they seldom finish reading a whole classic works.Based on the above problem analysis and considering teaching leading role in teaching practice,we propose some strategies to improve senior high fiction reading class.It is suggested that teachers should take the teaching content as a whole,select it in a reasonable way and highlight the focal points.As for the relationship between students and teachers,we propose that teachers should not only guide students to understand the strategies of text interpretation but also improve their own ability in text interpreting and stick to the belief of combining studentsmain body role with teachers' leading role.According to the Criteria for Chinese Course in Senior High School,teachers should focus on improving students' appreciation in fiction and arouse their interest in fiction reading class.
