A Study About The Employment Of College Graduates Majoring In Social Work

With the development of society and economy,a series of social problems appear in our country.The government realized that the original social security system can not meet the needs of the moment,so some of the functions will be transferred to social organizations.Social work originated in the western world and it has become a social services with professional knowledge and values to help the people in trouble repair the social functions,which is different from the traditional social assistance.Social work plays an important role in maintaining social stability and promoting the harmonious development of society.The state and local governments have promulgated various regulations and measures to promote the development of social work.Due to the late start,localization and other reasons,the professionalization and the professional process of social work is unsatisfactory,and the degree of social work development varies from region to region.Social worker as a profession has not been recognized by the public and the relevant professional evaluation system is not perfect,while wages,social status,etc.can not be effectively protected.Professional social work in China’s reconstruction started in late 1980 s.By 2015,321 colleges and universities had recruited BSW students,more than 70 higher vocational schools of social work had recruited academic students and 104 universities(research institutes)had recruited MSW students in social work.Every year,there are nearly 30 thousand social work graduates.By 2016,there were nearly 6000 social work agencies in China,which required a large number of social workers each year.Even so,a large number of graduates in social work have difficulty in employment and professional counterparts employment while social work institutions and organizations lack of many professional social workers.By using questionnaire survey,case interviews,literature research methods,this paper investigate the employment status of Inner Mongolia S University BSW graduates who entered school in 2010,2011 and 2012 in order to understand the graduates employment intention and the employment status of BSW graduates in Inner Mongolia.This paper consists of five parts.The first part is the introduction,which explains the research background,research purpose,research significance,literature review,theoretical basis and research design.The second part mainly introduces the current situation of social work in Inner Mongolia with the perspective of social work development and education.In the third part,the author introduces the social work major of Inner Mongolia S University and takes the BSW graduates of Inner Mongolia S University as the research object who entered school in 2010,2011 and 2012.The fourth part uses case interviews and questionnaires used in part three for analysis.There are some problems,such as difficult employment,low employment rate,imperfect development of social work,low degree of professional approval,no employment planning,unreasonable school education.In the fifth part,the author puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions with social action theory to improve the current employment situation from the following aspects: the individual,the school,the government and the society.
