Reading plays a very important part in English learning and of course reading teaching possesses a key position in English teaching.In the new National Standard for English Curriculum,"To optimize(students')learning style is to improve(students')learning autonomy" is one of the basic notions.However,for high school students,it is not optimistic when it comes to autonomous reading ability in English.Objectively,its formation is affected by several factors.But the author still believes that a student lacks of vocabulary and reading emotion,and teachers' obsolete teaching patterns are the major factors.At present,"guided learning plan" which was known as a new teaching auxiliary tool is being widely used in many schools in China.The tentative teaching activity called "Teaching Based on the Guided Learning Plan" also happened in my school,Ningcheng County Balihan senior high school.Through using the guided learning plan,the author did a research empirically on English reading teaching.The goals are as follows.First,is it efficient to improve students' reading level with the guided learning plan?Second,can we foster students' autonomous reading ability in English with the help of the guided learning plan?Through teachers' and students' feedback,the author investigated teachers and students from Balihan senior school on the using result of the guided learning plan.Then,the author improved the design of the guided-learning plan.The author performed an experiment so as to verify its effectiveness.In the thesis,the methods include the literature analysis,questionnaire survey,and a combination of interviews and teaching experiments in English teaching theory.The author attempted to explore the teaching tactics of autonomous reading in English in senior high school via using the guided learning plan.The result presents that the use of guided-learning plan is prior over traditional teaching method.It can improve the students' reading level as well as effectiveness of the English reading class.At the same time,by comparing before and after the use of the guided-learning plan,the author learns the use of the guided-learning plan can improve the students'autonomous ability.I sincerely hope that the thesis can be of great benefit for English teachers during the new basic curriculum reform.
