The current reforms to basic education curriculums advocate for inquiry-based learning,the purpose of which is to promote student development,to foster innovative spirits and practical abilities,and to cultivate student talents to meet social development needs.Curriculum reform has been going on for over a decade,What is the currrent situation of inquiry-based learning,particularly at rural junior middle schools? Through relevant research,the author found that there are relatively few studies on inquiry-based learning about rural junior middle schools,and the few studies are not in-depth.This study takes an in-depth and systematic look at the reality of inquiry-based learning about rural junior middle schools and the existing issues,and proposes stategies to improve the situation.This study analyzes the situation from different angles and aims to help improve inquiry-based learning for rural junior middle school students,and to provide suggestions for better play the role of inquiry-based learning.Based on the theory of constructivism and the theory of cognitive discovery,the author has used literature review,questionnaires and interview,and has determined the dimensions of this after collection and collation of relevant literature.The author designed questionnaires and interview outlines after consulting existing literature and identifying possible interview results.The survey involved 583 students from four rural junior middle schools in Shandong Province.The interviewees were eight teachers and eight students from the four schools.Focusing on biology,physics and chemistry as examples,and targeting aspects of inquiry attitude,inquiry knowledge base,inquiry abilities,inquiry customs,and inquiry environment,this paper studies the present situation of inquiry-based learning by rural junior middle school students.This study has six sections.The first section describes the issues raised,research significance,literature review,thoretical basis and definitions of key concepts.The second section describes the research methods used in this study,including literature review,questionnaires and interview.The third focuses on analyzing the questionnaire results and interview content.The fourth analyzes the problems with rural junior middle school students’ inquiry-based learning and the reasons for them.The fifth proposes solutions to the existing problems of inquiry-based learning in rural junior middle school students.The sixth concludes this study,and highlights the innovation,value,and thoughts on the research.
