Listening,speaking,reading and writing are the four basic skills in language learning,and also the key to use language.Meanwhile,these four skills are the directions and the goals of English learning in senior high school.“Listening” is the premise and guarantee for the smooth development of communication activities.In the daily communication,listening takes the largest proportion,so the importance of listening teaching is prominent.The quality of English listening teaching in senior high school directly affects learners' information processing,analyzing and mastering of other language skills.Our country improves the requirements of language learners constantly,emphasizing the development of comprehensive language application with learners and the cultivation of comprehensive talents.However,owing to various reasons of teachers and learners,the results of senior high school English listening teaching and learning are both unsatisfactory.Therefore,it's a meaningful research to investigate the present situation of English listening teaching and learning in senior high school.In order to study the present situation of English listening teaching and learning in senior high school,this research takes Kaiqu Middle School of Huaibei as an example.The research treats 10 senior school English teachers and 503 learners as the research objects,then conducts interviews as well as listening learning questionnaires on English teaching and learning respectively and uses Excel to analyze the data.The focus of this research is to identify the English listening teaching and learning problems in Kaiqu Middle School of Huaibei,by analyzing the results of interviews and survey.According to the statistics,the research finds out the problems,from the perspective of the teachers,are as following,incomplete listening comprehension,poor teaching methods and limited listening teaching resources.The problems,from the perspective of the students,are as following,unclear listening attitude and defective listening strategies.Finally,the research combines the existing problems of Kaiqu Middle School of Huaibei with the requirements of curriculum standards and takes the input hypothesis as well as the affective filter hypothesis as reference to propose suggestions for listening teaching.1)Guide learners to establish a positive learning attitude,2)Change the teaching methods and cultivate learners listening strategies,3)Integrate the teaching resources.From the perspective of listening teaching,combining with the findings of this research,some suggestions are proposed in order to cultivate the learners' listening strategies and establish active learning attitude.So that,the learners under the guidance of teachers as well as the integrated resources,can optimize the effectiveness of English listening learning.
