The purpose and significance of this study: From the point of view that varied Rest Interval(RI)lengths between sets during the strength training may have different influence on the training effect, which in turn influences the changes in Blood Lactate and the peak as well as the average power in the process of lower limbs Squat training, this study aims to find proper RI lengths between sets in order to accomplish the strength training task both efficiently and effetively.Method: 18 female softball players(21.84 ± 2.60years;172.18 ± 4.88 cm;67.07±8 kg,;1RM Smith squat =126.21±4.06 kg)with strength training experience were selected as the test subjects and were divided into 3 groups. Each group were asked to complete 4 sets of squats(4 times a set)with a load of 75%1RM.The RIs between sets were 2min,3min and 5min respectively. The output power of the athlete was tested immediately after each squat was completed. The Blood Lactate values before and after the output power test were collected.Results:(1)Statistic results show that different RIs between Sets have significant effect(P < 0.05)on the peak value and the average power of each squat. The highest value of both appeared in the first set of squat test and decreased gradually as each set continued. The peak value and average power after the 2min RI decreased by 9.61% and 9.75%,then by 4.83% and 4.41% after the 3min RI,and 3.70% and 4.55% after the 5min RI in the end.Through the comparison between each two sets,2min RI displays a significant difference from both the 3min and 5min RI between sets(P < 0.05),while the comaprison between the 3min RI sets and 5min RI sets showed no significant difference(P >0.05).(2)Statistic results about the average output power of the squats among different RIs between sets also showed significant effect(P < 0.05)on the Blood Lactate values before and after the squat tests. The Blood Lactate values increased with the 2min,3min and 5min RIs to 4.13±1.10(mMol/L)? 2.20±0.44(mMol/L)? 2.52±0.48(mMol/L)respectively.Through the comparison between each two sets,2min RI displays a significant difference from both the 3min and 5min RI between sets(P < 0.05),while the comaprison between the 3min RI sets and 5min RI sets showed no significant difference(P>0.05).Conclusion:(1)The study found that 3min RI between sets is enough to maintain a high level of output power during the Squat Training.(2)The 3min RI between sets could ensure muscle ATP and CP recovery and make the Blood Lactate level maintain at a relatively low level(mMol/L < 4).(3)In the study, changes in Blood Lactate level will not affect the peak power and average power of Squat Training.
