The "National Physics Olympiad charter"(2016 Edition)put forward clear requirements on the mathematical ability of students,new contents of General Physics have been involved in the charter,most of which have higher requirements on mathematical thinking method.Combined with the principles of education psychology,we have made a survey on part of the freshmen and the sophomores of 28 middle schools in Hunan Province about the status of cultivating the students' mathematical thinking method and have interviewed three students of The High School Attached to Hunan Normal University who had got prizes in the thirty-third Chinese Physics Olympiad.We have got the information from them about the understanding and the comprehension of thinking method of mathematics,their behavior habits and the psychological behavior habits,when they use the mathematics thinking method to solve physical problems,the self-awareness of using the mathematics thinking method and the ways that can enhance their ability of using the mathematics thinking method.Also,we have interviewed the coaches of The High School Attached to Hunan Normal University and Yali Middle School about the modes,ways,problems they have met when Coaches cultivating physics students how to use mathematical thinking methods.they are as follows:The results of questionnaire and interviews of students:1.The students of physics competition are not familiar with the method of mathematical thinking,and it is difficult to grasp the mathematical thinking method that involves the knowledge of higher mathematics;2.Physics students think that mathematics thinking methods are very helpful to the study of physics competition;3.Physics students have bad mood problem,the sophomores are more serious;4.Physics students should use the thinking mathematics method to solve the physical problems,and the consciousness of classification and induction should be strengthened;5.Most of the students have a clear understanding of their ability to solve practical problems by using mathematical thinking methods,and the main factors that affect the application of mathematical thinking methods are two aspects: Psychology and ability;6.Physics students can develop and improve their ability of using mathematical thinking methods from the two ways: self training and teacher training.The results of interviews of physics coaches:1.Coaches are aware of the importance of cultivating students' ability to use mathematical thinking methods;2.Coaches use a variety of methods to cultivate students' ability of using mathematical thinking methods;3.Paying attention to the cultivation of students' autonomous learning,classification,induction and reflection habits;4.The coach adjusts the unstable state of mind by means of communication and proper recognition and encouragement;5.Different coaches have different ways to cultivate students' mathematical thinking.Based on the results of questionnaire and interview,the following strategies are put forward to cultivate the ability of using mathematics thinking method of physics students :1.Pay attention to the psychological guidance,train the students to use the method of mathematical thinking(1)To strengthen students' awareness of the importance of the application of mathematical thinking methods(2)To help students adjust their bad mood(3)enhancing students' self efficacy through psychological motivation2.Use the classroom teaching to cultivate the ability of physical students to use mathematical thinking(1)expand the mathematics teaching,strengthen students' mathematical thinking ability(2)select typical examples,highlight the use of mathematical thinking methods(3)invite teachers to teach mathematical thinking methods for students,explain the internal relationship between the physical context and mathematical thinking methods3.To carry out after-school activities,strengthen the ability of physics students to use mathematical thinking(1)Deepen the students' understanding of the importance of using mathematical thinking method(2)To carry out exchanges and discussions among students,to find out the deficiencies of using mathematics thinking method(3)Encourage students to do self-made exercises which involve mathematical thinking methods,raise the ability of using mathematical thinking methods to a higher level.
