Job burnout is a work-related syndrome of emotional exhaustion,depersonalization and reduced personal accomplishment resulting from long-term occupational stress.Teachers who experience elevated levels of job burnout have been reported to be less sympathetic towards their students,have lower tolerance for classroom disruption,and more likely to experience problems with health,wellbeing and commitment to their work.For a long time,attention has been paid to Chinese teachers' job burnout.Many investigations of high school and college teachers' job burnout have been carried out.The subjects of all investigations are usually college teachers or high school teachers who teach Chinese or math.The survey is not enough which specifically focus on junior middle school English teachers.That is why this investigation tries to probe into junior middle school English teachers' job burnout.The investigation explores the following questions:1.What is the present situation of teachers' job burnout in junior middle school English teachers in Jinzhou?2.What is the relationship between demographic variables and teachers' job burnout level?One hundred teachers participate in this investigation.They are all junior middle school English teachers from five different schools in Jinzhou.The instruments are questionnaire,interview and SPSS19.0(Statistics Package for Social Science).The results show that junior middle school English teachers in Jinzhou experience the moderate level of teachers' job burnout.As to demographic variables,firstly,the investigation finds that female English teachers have higher level of teachers' job burnout than male English teachers because they have higher level of self-actualization needs.Secondly,English teachers with less than ten years teaching experiences are inclined to have the highest level of teachers' job burnout,and English teachers with middle professional title have the highest level of teachers' job burnout.Lastly,English teachers who have got master degree tend to suffer from more teachers' job burnout.On the basis of research results,this thesis proposes several suggestions to alleviate teachers' job burnout from the aspects of personal efforts,school support and social support.
