Study On Quality Evaluation Indicators System On Graduate Degree Thesis

ObjectiveTo set up quality evaluation indicators system on graduate degree thesis,optimizing the current evaluation criteria.MethodAccording to literature and research experience,the framework and the items on graduate degree thesis quality evaluation indicators system were posted,with which were conducted out by adopting Delphi's method for 3 rounds by a group of 12 experts;Analytic hierarchy process(AHP)was used to determine the weight of each item.Rank Sum Ratio(RSR)was used for comprehensive evaluation and classification.642 graduate degree dissertations from 2008 to 2015 were used for model validation.Cronbach alpha coefficient was used to evaluate the reliability of the indicators system.Exploratory factor analysis was used for validity evaluation.Data analyses were used by IBM SPSS 20.0 software.The difference with P<0.05 was statistically significant.ResultsThe indicators system consisted of 9 domains and 52 indicators.The indicators under the domain "Thesis Topic and Research Desigh" had the greatest weight,followed by the indicators under "Material and Methods","Result","Discussion" and "Literature Review".The weight of the indicators under "Title","Abstract","Introduction" and"Other Details" was the minimum.The overall Cronbach a of the indicators system is 0.902;6 factors were extracted by Exploratory Factor Analysis,and respectively named"Expression","Research methods","Data Analysis","Standardized Writing","Literature Review" and "Thesis Topic".The cumulative contribution rate is 50.32%.The empirical study result was positive related to the RSR result with a correlation coefficient of 0.942(P<0.05).The regression equation of RSR was RSR=0.100+0.080×Probit.According to the value of Probit,the measured objects were graded as "Excellent","Good","Passed"and "Failed".ConclusionThe Evaluation Indicators System of Graduate Degree Thesis Quality includes 9 primary indicators,52 secondary indicators.The indicators system is scientific and reasonable with a good reliability,but the structure validity is not ideal.The sorted result of the empirical study is highly related with RSR,which indicates the scientificity and feasibility of the model.
