Enlightenment refers to the education for children in ancient China and enlightenment textbooks refer as the carrier of knowledge.It is said that,"Enlightenment aims at cultivating children" in the book Book of Changes.It is very important to cultivate children's good quality before they become adults and it is the only way for children to become saints.Enlightenment was extremely developed in the history of ancient Chinese education and resulted in a large number of classical enlightenment textbooks.These enlightenment textbooks once influenced a lot on children's education and once they were ignored and almost disappeared.Nowadays,these classical enlightenment textbooks are welcomed and become popular.They are regarded as the carrier of civilization and tradition.Some of them,as classical reading materials,are widely introduced to schools.This thesis paper is mainly based on the study of The Three-Character Classic,Hundreds of Family Surnames and The Thousand-Character Writing,a series of influenced and classical enlightenment textbooks for children to learn Chinese characters in ancient China,and to analyze the backgrounds,the authors,the contents,the ethical thoughts,the language styles,the spreads and the usages of these three books in order to find out their advantages and disadvantages.Based on these detailed analysis,this thesis paper elaborates the references and enlightenment on edition of Chinese textbooks in primary school nowadays.Firstly,it analyses the references towards the edition of Chinese textbooks.Secondly,it shows some reasonable and useful suggestions on the adaptation of the students and the teachers,the informative and the thoughtfulness of the content,the contemporaneity,the diversity of the form,and the pervasive of the editors are useful for the edition of Chinese textbooks.At the same time,some disadvantages unreasonable should not be ignored,such as the incomplete content,adult-centered thoughts,and the old and invariant thoughts and so on.This thesis paper mainly consists of five chapters as following.The first chapter is the introduction,introducing the background,the significance,the current study situation,the study content,the ideas,the methods,the innovation and deficiency briefly and concisely.The second chapter mainly introduces the conceptions of enlightenment and enlightenment textbooks in ancient China and shows a lot of classical enlightenment textbooks including The Three-Character Classic,Hundreds of Family Surnames and The Thousand-Character Writing.The third chapter is mainly about the editing characteristics and the analysis of The Three-Character Classic,Hundreds of Family Surnames and The Thousand-Character Writing,classical enlightenment textbooks in ancient China.The forth chapter elaborates the references and the enlightenment from these classical enlightenment textbooks on the edition of Chinese textbooks in primary school nowadays.The fifth chapter is the conclusion.
