With the further development of English Teaching in our country,the primary school English teaching is also facing more opportunities and challenges.How to improve the quality of teaching in the classroom,promote the development of students' learning ability and improve the quality of English subjects,is the new problems and challenges faced by primary school English teachers.Context design based on unit integrity instruction is becoming one of the important strategies of English teaching.Its ultimate goal is to cultivate students' learning enthusiasm and creativity,promote students' perception of language in real and lively situations,grasp the flexible language,use the language appropriately,get the joy of learning English so as to improve their ability of comprehensive language application.The author expounds the background and significance of the selected topic from the following three aspects: the development of primary school English teaching,the need of primary school English classroom teaching and the reform of teacher's professional development.She analyzes relevant home and abroad research through context design and then defines the concept of context design based on unit integrity instruction.She introduces the theoretical basis for context design based on unit integrity instruction through Gestalt psychology,whole language teaching theory,context teaching theory and the characteristics of students' cognitive development.She also carries on the questionnaire survey about context design based on unit integrity instruction to 1360 students and 50 teachers in 9 public elementary schools in Shanghai,which provides the realistic basis for the teaching practice exploration.From the theories and practices,she establishes the basic process of teaching and the teaching practice strategies.At last the conclusion is drawn: The implementation of context design based on unit integrity instruction helps to optimize English classroom teaching,to enhance teachers' teaching integrative ability,to deepen students' learning content of the emotional experience and to improve students' comprehensive language ability.Following the principle of the integration of theories and practices,the author explores a series of methods and strategies by means of questionnaire investigations,theory applications and teaching case analysis.It will be a pleasure if the research may arise some inspiration.
