| English textbooks are the main carriers for teachers to impart knowledge and embodiment of NECS(2011)and education reform.It plays a pivotal part in the English class teaching.The idea of hidden curriculum focuses on students’ education in hidden aspects and their cultivation of moral traits,social awareness,life attitude etc.It also meets the requirement of the curriculum of basic education for students’ overall development.A study of hidden curriculum in the textbooks are beneficial to teachers who fully utilize the course resource,enrich the class teaching and promote students’ comprehensive ability.This study takes the humanistic curriculum theory as a perspective and employs literature research method,content analysis method and case analysis method to analyze the hidden curriculum in Go For It.The study finds out that the educational contents of hidden curriculum in the textbooks are mainly about the morality,emotion and attitude,personality,life experience,social life and Chinese and foreign cultural awareness.These hidden contents include five functions of moral development,cognitive,cultural transmission,personality formation and interest motivation in the textbooks.Through the analysis of English teaching cases,the study also finds out if English teachers set up the advanced concept of hidden curriculum,exert the teachers’ guiding function actively and utilize fully the educational functions of hidden curriculum in the textbooks,improvement of the English class teaching can be proved.The study suggests that teachers should study the NECS(2011)carefully and put its ideas into teaching practice.According to the hidden curriculum in the textbooks,teachers also need to educate students’ moral ideology,guide their emotion and attitude,learn the social experience and cultivate the cultural awareness.The actual English class teaching design should create the real English scenes,encourage cooperative learning and inspire students’ learning interest to enhance the application of hidden curriculum. |
