The teacher-student conflicts happen frequently recently in universities.So it has been widespread concerned and gradually becomes important subject of ideological work in universities.The teacher-student conflict is difference of benefit between teachers and students,which is caused by the differences of personality,values,power,educational resources,concept of teaching management,and so on.This is a interactive process dominated by nonviolent and concealed confrontation.Through the questionnaire survey,this paper analyzes the overall situation of the teacher-student relationship and the general characteristics of the teacher-student conflict in universities.Meanwhile we make difference analysis of teacher-student conflict in groups and within groups.Results show that the teacher-student relationship is harmonious generally speaking.However,there is a significant cognition difference between teachers and students on the degree of harmonious relationship and teacher-student conflict.Difference analysis in student group shows that:there is a significant cognition difference between boys and girls on the degree of conflict with teachers.Boys get higher degree.The same thing happens between grades,and the freshmen get higher degree.Difference analysis in teacher group shows that:there is a significant cognition difference between young teacher and older teachers on the degree of conflict with students.Young teachers get higher degree.Art and PE teachers get higher degree than other teachers.The main characteristics of teacher-student conflict include four aspects.Firstly,the main forms of teacher-student conflict are psychological resistance and silent protest.Body conflict is less,but students feel more language attack than teachers.Secondly,unsmooth communication and differences of values are the main cause of the conflict.In addition,differences of role definition and some problems of teaching management are inducements of conflict.The thirdly,in conflict management,teachers are more active than students.There have a significant proportion of students,whose treatment methods are negative.In the aspect of attribution of conflict,this paper use the attribution theory of Hyde,and divide the cause of teacher-student conflict into internal cause and external cause.At the same time,we consider four dimensions:characteristic difference between teachers and students,interaction between teachers and students,higher education situation and teaching management.The first two dimensions are internal factors and the latter two are external factors.This paper puts forward that the problem solving strategy is the best conflict resolution strategy based on social conflict management theory.To carry out the strategy well,the foundation is sincere communication and the key is searching balance of interests.This research has been explored effective method and path for problem solving strategy from three aspects,such as students,teachers and schools.More important,we provide some suggestions and countermeasures to resolve conflict and avoid conflict upgrade.
