Since the foundation of People's Republic of China,the government made several standards of the physical fitness of students to measure and monitor the students physical fitness.But there are little studies and measurements of the physical fitness for disabled students,especially for the intellectual disabled students.So we chose 896 students with intellectual disabilities from special education schools.Their age from 8—18years old.We want to know the reality of the physical fitness for students with intellectual disabilities and compare to the normal students and do one sample test to see if there is significant differences.We have 14 indicators,height,weight,waist,blood pressure,heart rate,vital capacity,hand grip,sit and reach,sit-up,bridge,single leg standing with eyes closed,sit and stand,pushing ball with sitting and step test.Research results shows that the height,weight and waist shows wave trend with age increase.After 11 years old the height,weight and waist increase when the age increase.But the overall conditions fall behind the normal students.And the reason is the injury of nervous system and low level of hormone secretion;For students with intellectual disabilities,their functional indictors and motor ability indictors show irregular development and we can see the vital capacity is low for these intellectual students compared to the normal students.The ID students lack of physical exercise and this led to the low performance of vital capacity.And also we should give attention to the low performance of their flexibility,core power and balance ability.I t shows the level of cognitive ability limited the development of ID students functional ability and motor ability.According to this situation,I want give several suggestions.First,ID students should do more moderate physical activity to improve the vital capacity,aerobic activity and cognitive ability and helpful to their development of muscle and bones.Second,we should monitor their weight and blood pressure to avoid the risks of overweight and high blood pressure.Third,do more muscle resistant training to improve strength and endurance.It is good for their movement performance.Forth,do more flexibility training to change the condition of joints stiff.
