Improving Students' English Listening Competence By E-learning Platform In High Schools:an Empirical Study

Listening,speaking,reading and writing are the four basic skills of English,and listening skills in the four skills is in the first place,its importance is obvious.Famous linguists Hymes puts forward that cultivating people's communicative competence is the ultimate goal of language teaching,while understanding others' words is the basis of communication.Therefore,in the high school English teaching,listening teaching gets teachers' and students' further attention,and scholars from all walks of life are also constantly exploring new English listening teaching mode.With the tide of education reform steadily and the rapid development of network education technology,E-learning-based English listening teaching has received increasing attention of scholars both at home and abroad.This article explores the research mainly from three aspects: the first is what is English listening teaching mode basing on E-learning platform,then how the teaching mode applies in senior high school English listening,and under the guidance of the model,the teaching effect and students' learning effect is remarkable or not,and the final is what the enlightenment is to the future.Through E-learning teaching platform combined with high school English listening teaching,cultivating students' autonomous learning ability and improving their listening skills are the two main purposes of this study.Under the guidance of the autonomous learning theory,the author gives full play of the timeliness,and convenience to the E-learning teaching platform,and give the learning dominance back to students to cultivate students' ability of autonomous learning,while in the process of students' learning,teachers mainly play the guiding role.According to Krashen's input hypothesis and Swain's language output theory,the author,on the basis of teaching designing four basic steps of E-learning-based English teaching model--establishing situation,inputting content,outputting activities,and summarizing to improve,uses the methods of empirical study,interviews,classroom observations to know students' listening learning situation,and guides the students,under the guidance of the teaching mode and using E-learning teaching platform,to accomplish the learning tasks of each link and gradually improve their listening skills.Meanwhile,for understanding the teaching effect,the author adopts questionnaire method and observes the students' performance in the output link,who found that,comparing with the traditional teaching mode,the new mode has visible advantages.Through the platform,students not only can learn in the class under the guidance of the teacher,but can have extracurricular autonomous learning.This mode provides students with more opportunities to practice listening.At the same time,students through the platform for learning,they don't have to face the speaker,so that this is calming the nerves of the conversation,prompting students to dare to give opinions,and enhancing their learning confidence.The listening teaching mode which is based on E-learning teaching platform not only can enrich the teaching tools and teaching materials,but also can stimulate students' interests in learning,cultivate students' autonomous learning ability.The new mode can also improve the students' listening and speaking skills,cultivate students' ability of independent thinking,and cultivate the students' team cooperation consciousness.At last,the teaching pattern is of great significance for the innovation of teaching means,the roles between teachers and students and the curriculum.
