Since the reform and opening up,the economy of Beijing develops rapidly and now we have entered a new era of consumption-driving.Social wealth and living standard of citizens raise fast,but the proportion which resident consumption takes up in GDP is continuing reducing,which embodies that the consumption demand of residents is insufficient.Besides,consumption structure faces a lot of changes which influence industrial structure directly and indirectly the development of national economy.In actual situation,factors which have influence on resident consumption are complex.One of those factors,age structure of population plays an important part.The age structure of population of Beijing has changed a lot especially since the implementation of the family planning policy.The decrease of birth rate,deepening of aging and reducing advantages of labor source make the stress and burden of social economy become more and more.Consuming behaviors of different age level have heterogenicity which can lead to total consumption and consumption structure fluctuating and have effect on economic development of Beijing.Age structure of population of Beijing is no longer just an issue of population,but an economic problem which have direct influence on quantity of labor source and economic development of Beijing and neighboring regions.This research takes Beijing as a discussion object,makes an overall consideration of the changes of age structure and resident consumption and explore the internal association of them.Pointing to current situation of Beijing,this paper draws into age structure as a variable to explore its influence on resident consumption level and resident consumption structure,analyse the direction and degree of age structure to provide suggestions for population policies and consumption plans.This research also has strategic significance on increasing economic development of Beijing.
