Since the founding of the PRC,the Chinese textbooks have changed greatly.One of the changes is that Mao Zedong's works are selected into Chinese textbooks,and with the development of the times,their selection is changing in quantity,genre and interpretation.In order to fit with the educational situation and educational idea of the new period,to promote the reform of education,and to improve the teaching level of teachers,it is necessary to analyze the selection of Mao's works.On the basis of combing,we try to find out the problems existing in the teaching of Mao Zedong's poetry,and find out an effective method for teaching Mao's works,among which the poetries take the leading position,hoping to provide reference for the front-line teachers.This paper is divided into three chapters:The first chapter is divided into three periods: period one 1949-1976,from the founding of the PRC to Cultural Revolution;period two 1978-2000,the period of reform and opening up;and period three,the new curriculum reform since 2001.In addition,bases on Mao' works selected in the Chinese textbooks of PEP edition,the author has made statistics and analysis about the works.The purpose of all of these is to explore the evolution rules and the influences on teaching of Mao's works being learnt in middle school Chinese textbooks from the founding of the PRC.The finding shows that Mao's works have been largely reduced,and the genres have been changed from different styles,including political essays,to poetic style.Meanwhile the interpretation of the works has been changed from the point of politics to pure literature.In different periods,there exist obvious social and political influences on teaching methods,though on a downward trend.But because of Mao's special identity,such influences still exert great challenges to the present ways of teaching Mao's works.The second chapter discussed the present teaching situation of Mao's poetry teaching in middle school and the reasons.We make a survey among the teachers and students in the form of interviews and questionnaires.And by collecting and analyzing the date of the teaching plans,teaching design and teaching courseware of Mao's poems,the author wants to find out the problems of Mao's poetry teaching.And the research shows that the problems exist in both the teachers and the students.To the teachers,they are characterized by limited professional capacity,and inappropriate teaching methods,etc.As for the students,they are passive and utilitarian in learning.The third chapter is of the most importance.Based on the vertical and horizontal analyses on the chapters above,the author tries to put forward to teaching strategy Mao's poetry.In this chapter,on the bases of the poems as well as the relevant theoretical knowledge,and combing the outstanding teaching cases,this paper analyzes the characteristics of Mao's poems,and sums up the teaching strategies.The strategies are as follows: Understanding the characteristics of the teaching from the macroscopic and microscopic perspectives;reading more,striking beauty-feeling and responsive chord;using appropriate multimedia,creating suitable situations;and reading poems in a comparative way,comprehensive understanding the style of Mao's poetry.
