Since the beginning of teaching activities, how to improve the effectiveness of teaching has become the eternal pursuit of education workers. From the autumn of 2011, Wuhan has implemented small class teaching, after several years of exploration and practice, the pilot Schools have greatly improved in teaching idea, teaching method and teaching quality. At present, as a non test subjects, Geography is not valued by students and teachers. With its advantages, small class teaching is helpful to effective teaching of Geography. With the promotion of small class teaching, it is worthy further exploration of the effective teaching of Geography in small class. This paper includes the following six parts:The foreword is the first part, which mainly expounds the research background and significance, research status, research objectives and research content, research methods and research thought.The second part is the overview of effectiv teaching in Geography small class,mainly expounds the concept and the theoretical basis of effective teaching, the principles of small class effective teaching in Geography.The third part is the advantage of small class teaching and present situation of small class teaching of Geography, mainly expounds the four major advantages of small class teaching. Firstly, small class teaching improves the teaching environment;secondly, small class teaching optimizes the relationship between teachers and students; thirdly, small class teaching improves teaching effectiveness; fourthly, small class teaching realizes democratic evaluation. Through the questionnaire survey, the author collated and analyzed the data, summed up the current situation of small class teaching of Geography in in Wuhan.The fourth part is the analysis of Geography class in small class teaching mode,mainly elaborates how to collect samples, how to analysis teaching behavior of the sample from effect, efficiency and benefit. Finally, based on the collated and analyzed data, the author points out the current problems of effective teaching of junior middle school Geography class in small class mode in Wuhan.The fifth part is the improvement strategy of effective teaching of Geography class in small class mode: appropriate guidance to promote the active construction;method guidance to improve learning ability, effective organization to pay attention to the hierarchical teaching.The sixth part is the conclusion and expectation, which summarizes the results and the shortcomings of the study, and proposes some suggestions for further research on this topic.
