Reading is an important part of Chinese teaching.Extracurricular reading is supplement and development of teaching in class.Both of them complement each other and are indispensable."Full-time compulsory education language curriculum standards(experimental draft)" on the current reading of secondary school students has a clear request: not only the amount of extracurricular reading makes the provisions,but also requires students to develop great reading interest and good reading habits.However,due to the restrictions of the economic condition in rural areas,concept and family atmosphere as well as other factors,students' extracurricular reading situation is unsatisfactory.There are a lot of problems in reading amount,reading taste,reading habit and so on.From the reality,the thesis analyzes the deficiencies and causes of the extracurricular reading of rural middle school students through the questionnaire and the theory of Chinese teaching and educational psychology with a view to proposing targeted and practical recommendations.The thesis is to elaborate from four parts.The first part discusses the reasons for the topic,the significance of the study,the basis of the study,the meaning of extra-curricular reading and the use of research methods.The second part is mainly to collect the data to sort and analysis by using statistical principles and methods from reading interest and habit,reading time and quantity,reading content and other aspects of the questionnaire survey based on the actual situation of rural middle school students.The third part is on the basis of the second part of the rural middle school students to read the main problems that the students have interest in reading but did not form good reading habits,students reading time and reading amount is not enough,extracurricular reading environment is not ideal and lack of appropriate guidance.Then to explore the causes of the problems one by one from the community,schools,families and students individuals.The last part mainly deals with the shortcomings of the current rural middle school students' extracurricular reading.In particular,schools,teachers and parents update their reading concept,social government,schools and parents work together to create conditions for extracurricular reading and to strengthen teachers' guiding,demonstrating and supervising and to perfect the extracurricular reading evaluation mechanism so as to improve the students' reading level,enhance the students' language literacy and promote the students' comprehensive development.
