Research On Chinese College Students' Consciousness To Shoulder Responsibility And Its Cultivation

The 18th CPC National Congress report gives priority to“consciousness of social responsibility”among the objectives of cultivation,the report fully manifests the top status of the cultivation of the consciousness of social responsibility in China's contemporary campus education including college education.The consciousness of social responsibility and that of self-responsibility together constitute the consciousness of responsibility.This research focuses on China's college students' consciousness of responsibility on the whole,puts forward the concept of the consciousness to shoulder responsibility,focuses on China's college students' consciousness to shoulder responsibility,bases itself on objective analysis of its status quo,reveals the relatively prevalent problems therein,attempts to find the roots of the problems,and aims to propose feasible resolutions to the problems from the perspective of cultivation plans.This research is mainly based on the Marxist theories concerning the relations between individuals and the society and the Marxist theories concerning the relations between liberty and responsibility as well as the psychological analysis of the formation of the consciousness of responsibility.During the research,the research methods of literature review,comprehensive analysis,questionnaire-based survey,and interviews are successively used.In the design of the questionnaire,the consciousness to shoulder responsibility is classified into the consciousness to shoulder self-responsibility,the consciousness to shoulder responsibility to the family,the consciousness to shoulder responsibility to other individuals,the consciousness to shoulder responsibility to communities,the consciousness to shoulder responsibility to the ecological environment.The questionnaire potentially regards the classification of the consciousness to shoulder responsibility into responsibility cognition,responsibility affection,responsibility willpower,responsibility action as another main basis,and it applies the methods of discourse analysis based on the appraisal system in systemic functional linguistics to objectively assign degrees of force to all types of consciousness to shoulder responsibility and all their components,in order to reveal the status quo of the consciousness to shoulder responsibility of China's college students as comprehensively and profoundly as possible.The research discovers the following major problems currently existing in China's college students' consciousness to shoulder responsibility:limits to responsibility willpower;scarcity of responsibility affection;the prevalence of realism in responsibility cognition;the prominent existence of idealism in the cognition of the capability to shoulder responsibility;the prevalent inadequacy of the consciousness to shoulder the responsibility to the national community;the existence of weakness in the consciousness to shoulder the responsibility to the natural life of oneself;the existence of the mental tendency to evade responsibility and the lack of integrity;the lack of the proficiency to balance responsibilities to different aspects.These problems can find their roots mainly in the social environment,campus education,family education,and the college students themselves.The feasible cultivation plans that may help solve these problems include upholding the outstanding Chinese traditional culture,effectively applying Internet-based platforms to uphold the consciousness to shoulder responsibility,perfecting social management regulations,improving the campus ethic education system,highlighting the complementary functions of family education to campus education,and enhancing the real effects of college students'academic visits and their participation in social practice.
