Novel reading teaching is an important and inseparable part of Chinese teaching in senior high schools.However,the novel reading sees a paradox at present.On the one hand,both teachers and students in senior high schools attach great value to novel reading;on the other hand,due to various pressure of time and the need to get prepared to College Entrance Examination,novel reading is only carried out in classrooms and not enough extracurricular novel reading is done.So students’ ability to read novels keeps low and can not reach the target of extracurricular novel reading.At present,novel reading instruction in senior high school focuses on three-dimensional target,teaching materials and in-class teaching.Not much importance is attached to novel reading instruction,especially to guidance and evaluation on extracurricular novel reading instruction.Through investigations,interviews,literature reviews,researches on teaching designs of novel reading,this thesis takes novel reading instruction in senior high schools as the research object and explores the teaching strategies of novel reading so as to provide some meaningful exploration for the realization of the goal of novel reading teaching in senior high schools.The thesis consists of three parts: the significance of novel reading,the investigation of present situation of novel reading instruction in senior high schools and the countermeasures to novel reading instruction in senior high schools.In the first part,the thesis argues the status and significance of novel reading teaching from the aspect of the requirements of National Chinese Curriculum Standard for Senior High School,the compilation of textbooks and evaluation of students.The aim of novel reading teaching is to enrich students’ reading experience,establish a connection between in-class novel reading and extracurricular novel reading and improve the comprehensive ability of Chinese students.In the second part,the thesis,through the questionnaires,interviews and classroom observations,analyzes the situation of novel reading instruction in senior high schools in the following aspects.From the aspect of teachers,it has been found that improve the comprehensive ability of Chinese students.In the second part,the thesis,through the questionnaires,interviews and classroom observations,analyzes the situation of novel reading instruction in senior high schools in the following aspects.From the aspect of teachers,it has been found that there exist the following problems: obsolete teaching ideas,insufficient teaching reservation,in-class teaching being separated from extracurricular teaching and a lack of guidance on extracurricular novel reading.From the aspect of students,they ignore novel classics,they lack effective reading methods,the quantity of students’ reading is seriously insufficient,and reading and writing is not often integrated.On the part of the school,the management of curriculum and mechanism of evaluation is not perfect.On the part of the compilation of textbooks,lack of adapted novels and even fewer novels that keep up with the date provided are the main problems.The third part is the countermeasures to novel reading instruction.Considering the problems existing in teaching,learning and compiling of textbooks,the countermeasures cover these five aspects: the formulation of teaching goals,the implementation of classroom teaching,the connection between in-class teaching and extracurricular teaching,the establishment of evaluation and the compilation of textbooks.The aim of the strategies is to solve the difficulties that novel reading instruction in senior high school is faced with.Besides,they are important in giving some guidance on novel reading instruction.
