development.As one of an important geographic ability,the improvement of students’ geographical ability has become an essential way.Training junior high school students cartographic cognition ability is correspond with the idea that curriculum requires at the same time it is also one of the necessary way to improve geography quality of junior high school students.Junior high school students cartographic cognition ability emphasis the importance of the map in the geographical teaching,also provides a chance to let the map play the best,it is helpful to improve the efficiency of geography teaching provides a guidance for the geography curriculum goals cultivating the ability can expand students’ thinking ability and the ability to solve practical problems.It is helpful to promote students’ all round development and lifelong development.The article mainly use the method of literature review,questionnaire survey,statistical analysis to investigate.First of all,collecting the concerned literature at home and aboard,collating sort,read and analysis,grasp the existing research scope and research fronts,elaborate the research background and meaning position the research direction.Secondly,define the concept “cartographic cognition” and related theoretical basis,summarize the research status of cartographic cognition of junior school students.Thirdly,making a cartographic cognition ability test to junior high school students,analysis the overall level andindividual difference of students,conduct a questionnaire survey among geography teachers,analyze their attention 、 training ways 、cultivating constraint on cartographic cognition practice,then make relevant conclusions.Fourth,according to the literature research and data analysis,combine the map reading and map learning in the map rendering way with life,put forward strategy of how to cultivate students’ cartographic cognition ability.Fifth,according to the above results of the questionnaire data analysis and strategy,design the teaching case Consciously and purposely.Finally,summarize the research process,state the innovation and the deficiency existing in the research.The research shows that,cartographic cognition ability of junior high school students is not so good,but has aroused the concern of the teachers,teachers have cultivated consciously and purposefully;teachers have explored new teaching methods in the process of cultivating;the spatial cognitive ability of junior high school students has significant difference.Basic spatial cognitive ability is better,large scale spatial orientation ability and space-time change ability also need to improve;The graphic transformation ability of the students perform worse;The students’ mastery degree about the map of our district is in good condition compare with the country map,the global perspective map and small area map is in bad condition,Different space scale map had a great effect on junior high school students’ cartographic cognition ability;Teachers have realized the importance that life and practice learning to geography teaching and map teaching.Situational and operation type,exploratory teaching method is recognized by the teacher.The main restriction factor of cultivating students’ cartographic cognition ability is less chance of teaching practice.teachers believe that cultivating students’ cartographic cognition ability plays an important role in students mastering the geography knowledge and improving the comprehensive ability,besides,it is beneficial to cultivate students life-long useful geographical skills and students’ interest.According to the literature reference and the conclusion from the aspect of combining mapreading and map learning in the map rendering way with life,put forward some strategy about how to cultivate students’ cartographic cognition ability: pay attention to the presentation of the map,stimulate students’ interest in learning,pay attention to the order and procedural of the map reading,play the hand-drawn map and field teaching practice effect in geography teaching;use the map,from the aspect of map outline cognition、Space scale and Space distance、spatial imagination ability,training students’ spatial ability and graphic transformation ability.This article’s innovation is combine the cartographic cognition ability with the geography teaching of junior high school,after the analysis about current situation and issues,Put forward the corresponding teaching strategies.Map is not only the carrier of geography teaching,but
