The worldwide maker movement fever has not only brought a huge impact on economic and cultural fields but also had an immeasurable effect on education. In the process of continuous development of maker movement, the maker spirit which takes innovation , creation, and open-sourcing as the core has sprung up . As the collision and fusion of maker spirit and education , the maker education is a new education pattern ,which is based on the learners' interest in learning and aims at cultivating the learners'innovative spirit and promoting their creative ability by means of modern digital technology.The necessity of maker education is reflected in three levels . At the individual level ,it can help to cultivate the healthy personality of individual and lay the foundation for the future development of the individual . At the level of education system , it is committed to return to the educational essence of education , at the same time , it can promote the curriculum reform of basic education . As for the social level,it hopes to lay a good foundation for the cultivation of innovative talents as well as spread maker culture in the whole society . Under the concern of leaders and government at all level , under the support of existing mature theories , under the demonstration of excellent practice of maker education in elementary and secondary schools in our country , China is fully qualified to implement maker education in elementary and secondary schools.Maker education in elementary and secondary schools is the foundation stage of maker education , whose nature is the learning based on creation under the support of technology . So creation and technology must be emphasized as the two key words in maker education in elementary and secondary schools . Basic maker literacy is the goal of maker education in elementary and secondary schools , which includes innovation consciousness , innovation thinking , innovation ability , team cooperation ability , the ability of making reasonable use of resources and the necessary knowledge reserves for creation. Based on students' interest , learning by doing, interdisciplinary, collaboration and sharing are four core concepts of maker education in elementary and secondary schools.The implementation of maker education in elementary and secondary schools not only needs the efforts within the education system but also the support out of the education system . Within the education system , suitable environment for maker education in elementary and secondary schools should be created , systemic courses for maker education in elementary and secondary schools should be developed,effective teaching mode for maker education in elementary and secondary schools should be explored , and a team of well-trained teachers for maker education in elementary and secondary schools should be built. Out of the education system , the family and society should be connected with education in order to create a good ecology for maker education in elementary and secondary schools in our country.
