The Influence Of The Role Of Headteacher On English Language Teaching

The headteacher who is the soul guide of a class is also a teacher of this class.This situation is very common in China.Generally speaking,one English teacher teaches two classes and at the same time,this teacher is the headteacher of one of the classes.And the English grades of the class which the English teacher is in charge of are much better than the other one.Many people called this kind of phenomenon "the headteacher effect".And from the research,we can see that "the headteacher effect" has a certain influence on English teaching and finally it reflects in students'grades.Of course,there are so many factors influencing the English teaching and the students' grades.And the focus of this study is whether "the headteacher effect" has an influence on English teaching and the grades of students.How to apply the positive influences on English teaching or other subject teaching is the question we need to discuss and solve.This study consists of two experiments.(1).a junior high school which is the writer in as the base,the author's school divide the students into parallel classes and most of the English teachers teach two classes and are in charge of one of the two classes which they teach.So it is very convenient to study.The qualified English teachers of each grade were divided according to their professional ranks and titles.Record the previous exam results and compare the grades of the headteachers' class and the grades of the other class.From the results,we can discover that "the headteacher effect" really exists and it influences the English teaching and the students,grades.(2)The comparisons of the authority of the headteacher and the teacher questionnaire as a research tool to investigate the eight parallel classes in order to make sure that the headteachers have greater authority than the other teachers for the students.And the impact of the headteachers to the students is incomparable.The results of the study are as follows:(1)If you are the headteacher of one of two classes that you teach,the one you are in charge of will get better grades than the other one.Under the system of the headteacher in our country,the influence of the headteacher really exists;(2)In the minds of the students,the headteachers are more reliable and more authoritative than the other teachers.
