As an integral part of the teaching material, the learning assistance system is playing an increasingly important role in the teaching of Chinese. It is not only the direct reflection of the content of "teaching" and "learning",but also an important basis about"how to teach" and "how to learn"; as an important bridge connecting teaching and learning, it is both the "manual for teaching" and the "guidance for learning"; therefore,it is necessary to study the learning assistance system.The study scope of this dissertation is the existing PEP senior high school Chinese textbook, which was initially approved by the Ministry of Education in 2004 and is still widely used by teachers and students. The study object is the learning assistance system of this textbook, including unit description, text notes, text illustrations, assignment and appendix. The perspective of study is "learning-material orientation",which first emerged in Japan in 1980s and emphasized the student-orientation of textbook compilation and use and attached importance to guidance of self-learning and cultivation of self-learning ability of students. The emergence of this concept had provided new theoretical and practical reference for reform in compilation and use of textbook. The reason why the author chose "learning-material orientation" as the study perspective is that the realization of textbook’s "learning-material orientation" must draw support from learning assistance system, which is the same as the former in essence: they are aimed to guide the student’s learning, so that the learning process can become independent and conscious gradually, thus changing the dilemma of loss of independence caused by the long-term "oppressive" influence of education.The core content of this dissertation mainly includes five parts:The introduction part mainly elaborated the research purpose, significance and current research status, as well as the research idea and methods.Chapter One presented reflections about the historical origins and historical practice of the long-term "oppressive" influence of China’s education. The purpose of reflection is to construct a new view of education and teaching material, so as to realize the change from "teaching material" to "learning material",which requires support from learning assistance system in terms of compilation and use of textbook; this has determined the research perspective and theoretical foundation.On the basis of Chapter One’s argument, Chapter Two discussed the shortcomings of existing learning assistance system from the perspective of "learning-material orientation" in two aspects—compilation and use of learning assistance system; the shortcomings are as follows: loss of "learning-orientation" function; and "compulsive infusion" in teaching practice.Chapter Three put forward the corresponding optimization measures of the existing learning assistance system and gave suggestions concerning compilation and use of learning assistance system: design improvement by the compiler of the system; practice optimization by the performer of the system.The last chapter is the conclusion.
