Nowadays,sexuality education has become so important that it has aroused wide concern of the government and the whole society.Providing systematic,standard and scientific sexuality education for adolescents is not only the further interpretation of quality education,but also plays an important role in the development of students' moral qualities,knowledge qualities,physical and mental health.By analyzing the data on the internet,including online news,micro blog,WeChat,the author has found there is a serious lack of adolescent sexuality education in middle schools.So,developing effective school sexuality education has become a significant and urgent task.But what are the reasons behind this phenomenon?From the perspective of the author,firstly,there is a great misunderstanding towards the nature,purpose and effects of sexuality education.There is evidence that many people,including the staff of the education department,school leaders and teachers,are skeptical about the necessity of sexuality education or they are reluctant to provide relevant courses due to a lack of confidence and skills.Second,teachers' personal values or professional view may contradict with the problem they are dealing with,or they are at a loss about what to teach and how to provide systematic sexuality education.In addition,under the exam-oriented education system,adolescent sexuality education has not been listed in the syllabus in Hunan.However,adults-guided school sexuality education has been worldly regarded as the most effective and convenient code to adolescents.After several years' working as a high school biology teacher and head teacher,the author deeply realizes that it is an essential and urgent task to provide systematic,standard and scientific sexuality education for adolescents,from which the students can benefit a lot.Based on analyzing the current situation of adolescent sexuality education both at home and abroad,as well as the research on certain middle school students in Hunan,this article is meant to further explore adolescent sexuality education.The paper is divided into four parts:The first part mainly reviews the successful experience of sexuality education abroad and current situation at home,providing reference for middle school sexuality education.The second part mainly explores the reasons of developing adolescent sexuality education in high school,which is based on the data from the questionnaire in some middle school students of Hunan.The third part is meant to provide theoretical basis for sexuality education courses by reviewing the theory of literature.In the last part,after introducing the relevant courses in the school the author is working,he gives a contrast analysis of students' understanding of relevant knowledge before and after offering sexuality education courses,trying to provide references for developing sexuality education courses in the middle schools in Hunan.
