In 2005, The State Council of the People's Republic of China promulgated the Decision of the State Council on Vigorously Developing the Vocational Education,clearly defined that vocational colleges should build a modern vocational education system with Chinese characteristics, which is based on the combination of work and study and cooperation between school and enterprises. The teaching mode reform of“combination of work and study " is significant to the private higher vocational colleges.It can improve students' comprehensive quality, and enhance students' employment competence and entrepreneurship; meanwhile, it is the key to the further development of the private higher vocational colleges; which can achieve the organic combination between school and enterprises, the joint cultivation of talents between school and enterprises and resource sharing. The teaching mode of “combination of work and study" is the important reflection of independent right of running a school for private higher vocational colleges.On the basis of the above-mentioned factors, Silicon Lake College has started the teaching reform of "combination of work and study” with the mode of“0.5+1.5+0.5+0.5”, and has promoted the development of the teaching mode of"combination of work and study” by amending the plan of talents cultivation, increasing the ratio of practical courses, conducting the teaching quality monitoring system in accordance with the course teaching reform, strengthening the reform of students management, developing the cooperative enterprises actively, perfecting the team of teachers with dual qualification, and changing the concepts of students and teachers.However, in the course of implementing the reform of teaching mode, Silicon Lake College has faced the following operational difficulties: the laws and regulations on combination of work and study, stipulated by the government, are imperfect; there would be still a lot work to do in establishing the platforms for the cooperation between school and enterprises; the misallocation between school and enterprises in implementing the teaching mode of combination of work and study; teachers of private higher vocational colleges haven't been put into full use in implementing the teaching mode of combination of work and study; the enterprises, who cooperate with colleges and accept students, may use these students as cheap labor to a certain extent, which may cause the combination of work and study unbalanced; students and their parents have misunderstandings on the combination of work and study, and don't cooperate with school well. By taking measures to change the preconception of the society to the combination of work and study; further improving the supportive and coordinative measures on the combination of work and study by the government; changing enterprises' concept of taking students as cheaper labors and shouldering its responsibility of cultivating students; the combination of work and study could be well implemented. In implementing the reform of teaching mode, the private higher vocational colleges should take advantage of private higher vocational education, and carry out the teaching mode reform of “combination of work and study ", by constructing the professional system and course system with the characteristics of the combination of work and study; increasing the intensity of reform and innovation on talent cultivation; establishing the teaching resource with dual qualification, which can meet the demand of the cultivation mode of the combination of work and study; and establishing and perfecting the management system and evaluation system.The teaching reform of "combination of work and study” with the mode of“0.5+1.5+0.5+0.5”, adopted by Silicon Lake College, has been established on the basis of absorbing the mature experience from abroad, perfecting the internal management system, increasing the ratio of teachers with dual qualification, and deepening the cooperation between enterprises and school. Students can not only gain the working experience, but also be self-supported in economy. Students can have a better understanding of the requirements of the relevant working positions and the enterprises' cultures; so as to promote students' activeness of theoretical and practical study; which shows that the form adopted by SLC meets the trend of future development.
