Recently,with the rapid development of economy and trade between China and Thailand,the Thai society has experienced an unprecedented Chinese fever.According to statistics,there are more and more schools offering elective Chinese courses,and the number of students taking elective Chinese is increasing.Especially in recent years,elective Chinese courses have surpassed those of English,making Chinese the second largest elective language in Thailand.Although the teaching of Chinese elective courses has become an important force to promote the development of Chinese teaching in Thailand,its current situation is not optimistic.Meanwhile there are relatively few studies on the teaching of Chinese elective course in Thailand.Based on the current literature and the teaching practice in Thailand,this thesis analyzes the present teaching situation of Chinese elective courses in Thailand,and puts forward the corresponding teaching strategies to solve the existing problems.It intends to provide a reference for Chinese teachers and encourage more people to pay attention to the Chinese elective course and do research.This thesis consists of six parts.Chapter One is introduction,which explains the origin of the topic,the meaning and the research content and methods.Chapter Two is the literature review on the current domestic and foreign Chinese elective courses.Chapter Three goes through the definition and characteristics of elective courses and the present situation of Chinese elective courses in Thailand.The results of the survey are analyzed through the investigation and analysis of the actual situation of Chinese teachers and students.In chapter Four,based on the characteristics of Thai students and Chinese elective courses,the problems of Chinese elective courses are summarized from the aspects of questionnaires,interviews and observation,and the concrete analysis is carried out.Chapter Five puts forward the corresponding teaching suggestions for improving the Chinese elective course in Thailand.Chapter Six gives a brief summary of the thesis statement and limitation.
