With the rapid development of science and technology in the information era,channels for acquiring knowledge were expanded.As traditional education mode was unable to satisfy and conform to people's demand and modern society development,the knowledge visualization,a new teaching method,emerged therefore.Though it is a new field,knowledge visualization is still a hotspot for study.It has been a consensus among scholars that knowledge visualization can be applied to teaching.In the study,with the chemical textbook 3-Material's Structures and Properties as example,current research status of knowledge visualization at home and abroad was summarized through document research,questionnaire survey and interview.The study found that currently,knowledge visualization is researched mainly based on "mind map" and "concept map",and few studies have involved other presentation forms of knowledge visualization and its application on senior high school education.Then,many theories,such as dual-coding theory,brain science theory,schema theory,etc.,were explained as the theoretical basis of the study.Furthermore,the concepts of visualization and knowledge visualization were defined based on documents study.The feasibility of the application of knowledge visualization on teaching design of Material's Structures and Properties was analyzed and corresponding application mode thereof was designed.In the study,based on subjects of "Atomic Structure","Covalent Bond "," Stereo Configurations of Molecules " and " Ionic Crystal ",teaching designs presented by four knowledge visualization forms including visual metaphor,knowledge animations,mind map and model construction were respectively developed.And then teaching effects were analyzed based on the interview of exemplary application.According to the study,students' learning efficiency can be improved by using knowledge visualization in teaching.The study is expected to provide reference for the majority of chemical teachers in senior high schools through researching the application of the knowledge visualization on the teaching design of Material's Structures and Properties.It is also expected that the teaching cases for knowledge visualization can be enriched and developed by scholars,so as to provide more high school chemistry teachers with new teaching method and help students to improve their traditional cognitive methods.
