The Study On The Decline Of City In Modern Anqing

Since 1760 to 1938,Anqing city has been the capital of Anhui Province(Although the migration happened a few times during those days,its migration time was very short and it eventually moved back).In the Qing Dynasty,economy,culture,education and other aspects of Anqing became the center of Anhui.Since the arrival of modern times,especially the Taiping Movement and the Second Sino-Japanese War caused a profound impact to the development of Anqing.From the development pattern of the whole modern city,the development of Anqing has always been in a low-level development stage and tends to relative decline.The development of Anqing was interrupted by wars and has being into the recovery period.The development of Anqing started in the Late Qing Dynasty.After entering the Republic of China,because of political and military advantages,Anqing got the support of government and all aspects are towards innovation and development,and has made some achievements.During the Second Sino-Japanese War,the urban economy of Anqing was in the hands of the Japanese control and was almost destroyed.In this process,the economy,culture,education and social aspects of Anqing have changed in modern times.But at the same time,the cities such as Wuhu,Jiujiang,Bengbu and Hefei have gradually exceeded Anqing in size and speed.The kinds of factors changed,such as the gradual shift of political center,the negative trend of politicization,the suppression of the location of the Yangtze River,the marginalization of the new traffic,and the multiple squeezing of the market.During the war,all those factors contributed to the disintegration of Anqing and affected its urban development to gradually decline.In this paper,the relative decline of Anqing in modern times is the main line.Discussing the development performance and characteristics of the city under the changing times and analyzing the overall trend of the city behind the factors,this paper is to promote the understanding of future generations on the development of Anqing and to provide some reference and lessons for the better development of the city.
