The research on English classroom game design has a long research history.In children language teaching,games play an important role in students' "comprehensible input".Nowadays,preschool English education emphasizes "learning by playing","interest first,language second","focus on students",etc.These requirements seem to give more room to children's independence and reduce the function of teachers as the game designers.However,the fact is preschool English education put forward higher requirements for teachers.However,during designing games,teachers more often than not encounter a variety of puzzles,which also set off the chain of bad effects,for example the classroom game has low effect and efficiency,and so on.Especially in recent years,with the introduction of a large number of foreign native language teachers in the early childhood education,the pure foreign language environment has a great influence on English classroom for children,and the game design of foreign teachers also reflects their own characteristics.This thesis mainly discusses the difference between Chinese and foreign teachers in game design,including from their inspiration,stages and so on.Moreover,this study try to give useful advice based on these questions.This paper is a qualitative research,adopting classroom observation and case study to collect data on classroom game designs of two teachers in a training institution in Shanghai.This paper firstly makes a broad analysis on game designs between Chinese teacher and foreign teacher from three teaching procedures---classroom lead-in games,classroom teaching games and classroom practice games.And this research found these teachers have their own characters mainly in three aspects,classroom lead-in games,classroom teaching games and classroom practice games,including their goals of game design,students' flexibility in game environment and the roles of teacher in games etc.Most of Chinese teacher design the game based on teaching objectives.In other word,the purpose of game design is to help students to better grasp the teaching content of certain class.While the goals of game design of foreign teachers are based on the cultivation of students' interest and improvement of their communicative competence.In terms of students' flexibility in game environment,foreign teachers are more open,students have more flexible roles to play,their roles can be adjusted and changed at any time according to the classroom teaching practice.While Chinese teachers are relatively more rigorous,each game step has its own certain procedures to follow.As for the roles of teacher in games,foreign teacher participates in the games and becomes a member of them.But most of the Chinese teachers are acted as organizers and directors in game practice.This paper tried to find the design philosophies behind the game design between Chinese teacher and foreign teachers through the analysis of different characteristics between them,and tried to provide suggestions for classroom game design of pre-primary education.
