With the progress and development of current society,education plays a more important role.Therefore,educational reform has become an important part in the construction of modernization.The teachers' professional development is the key to education reform.However,with the deepening of the curriculum reform of basic education in our country,the art education in primary and middle schools in towns has substantially popularized and improved.However,in the rural areas,the status of art education still has not been paid due attention.The process of rural art teachers' professional development is seriously lagging behind.The research makes a survey of art teachers in junior middle schools in rural areas in Wutai County in Shanxi Province,aiming at revealing the difficulties and problems faced by the art education in the new curriculum reform,exploring the problems and challenges under the new curriculum reform in Shanxi Province through the case study of Wutai County in Shanxi Province,putting forward the feasible solutions so as to the full implementation of quality education.This study mainly focuses on art teachers in junior middle schools in rural areas inWutai County in Shanxi Province,makes an analysis of the aspects of art teachers' knowledge and attitude in professional development and professional accomplishment,their consciousness of professional development and the view of developmental substance and the current situation ofart teachers in-service training in junior middle school in rural areas.The results show that: the degree of satisfaction of fine arts teachers in rural middle schools in five counties is relatively low;there are major problems for professional accomplishment ofart teachers in junior middle schools in rural areas;art teachers in rural junior middle schools are not satisfied with their current status of the professional development.In the end,this paper,combined with region cultural characteristics in Wutai County in Shanxi Province,conducts a study of teaching,in order to explore an approach toprofessional development for fine arts teachers in rural areas with local cultural characteristics in new era.
