"Curriculum Mapping",which is a product of American standard-based movement in the 1980s,has been considered as an instrumental concept of visualization,resource integration,curriculum management.The original intention of curriculum mapping is to coordinate the gap between design of the expected curriculum and the actual development of the curriculum,guaranteeing that designed learning outcomes can be implemented in teaching plans,curriculum and academic evaluation,and thus enhancing the teaching quality and personnel training.The curriculum mapping and national curriculum standards have been seen as an important strategy for mentoring and improving academic performance in the secondary education period.However,the educators also believe that the effective curriculum mapping and curriculum standard are of great value for the innovation process and result.Therefore,this paper aims at systematically analyzing both theory and application of curriculum mapping in secondary education period through applying the method of theoretical analysis and case study.In the aspect of theory research,basing on the essence of curriculum mapping,this study analyzes the concept,element,type,function,process and technology of curriculum mapping.Then a complete theoretical system of"curriculum mapping" will be constructed.We also develop and apply a curriculum map on the basis of key-competences by researching and analyzing the curriculum standards.Following the key-competence of English can be achieved by taking the English subject as an example.In the aspect of practical experience,this study analyzes the typical case about practical applications of curriculum mapping for American high schools.Then we sum up the experience on applying curriculum mapping to develop and manage curriculum,align the curriculum with its standards.Moreover,we learn the curriculum mapping for reference and their relatively improvement from the empirical study.Combined with qualitative research about teacher interviews,the credibility and effectiveness of our study can be ensured.
