Study On The Relationship Between Self-transcendence And Subjective Well-being With Hope Level In Adolescent Students

ObjectiveTo examine the validity and reliability of revised English version of Self-Transcendence Scale(adolescent version);To understand the present situation of self-transcendence,subjective well-being and hope level in adolescent students;To study the relationship between self-transcendence,subjective well-being and hope level,which will provide a scientific basis for the mental health education of adolescents in community.MethodsWith approved by the original author,we translated the original scale into Chinese adolescent self-transcendence scale.Using convenience sampling and cluster random sampling method selected891 students from the Middle school and High school,which analyzed the validity and reliability of Chinese adolescent self-transcendence scale.To conduct the items analysis with high score determination value and item-total score relation methods,Factor analysis was used to measure the structure validity,content validity index were used to evaluate the content validity,Cronbach's alpha coefficient and the test-retest reliability were used to evaluate the reliability.Then using cluster random sampling method selected 1332 students from the Middle school and High school,which studied the relationship between self-transcendence,subjective well-being and hope level.The questionnaire include General information questionnaire,ChineseSelf-Transcendence Scale(adolescent version),The Index of Well-Being Scale and Middle School Students Hope Traits Scale.Using multiple regression analysis and correlation analysis with SPSS19.0 measured the relationship.Results1.The score of each item of the scale in the high and low g roups was statistically significant(P <0.01),The score of each ite m of the scale had a positive correlation with the total score(P<0.01),and the correlation coefficient r was between 0.42 and 0.69.The item-level content validity index(I-CVI)ranged from 0.85-0.94,the scale-level content validity index(S-CVI)was the universal agreement S-CVI(S-CVI/UA)of 0.87.Four factors were extracted by factor analysis,which could explain 57.52%of the total varianc e.The confirmatory factory analysis(CFA)indicated all measurem ents of structural model fit exceeded the recommended criteria,t he Chinese version of the Self-Transcendence Scale(adolescent v ersion)had a good fit(CMIN/DF=2.702,RMSEA=0.062,AGFI=0.915,GFI=0.927,NFI=0.873,CFI=0.911,RMR=0.034).The standardized re gression coefficient was 0.48~0.77.The internal consistency coeffi cient of the total table was Cronbach's ? of 0.84,the internal c onsistency coefficient of each factor was 0.68 to 0.75,and the te st-retest reliability coefficient was 0.81.2.Self-transcendence of adolescents:The total self-transcende nce of adolescents was(43.97±6.94),the differences of self-transc endence score between different gender,whether one-child,father's education level and the family relationship were significant(P<0.05),There was no significant difference in self-transcendence leve l among adolescents with different forms of living and mothers' e ducation(P?0.05).3.Subjective sense of happiness of adolescents:The differences of subjective well-being among adolescents with different genders,living forms and family relationships were statistically significant(P<0.05),There was no significant difference in subjective well-being between adolescents with whether one-child,different parents education level(P>0.05).The total score of subjective well-being among adolescents was(9.42±2.28).4.Hope level of adolescents:There were significant differences in the hope level of adolescents with different forms of residency,parental education and family relations(P<0.05),There was no significant difference in hope level among adolescents with different genders and whether one-child(P>0.05).The adolescents' hope level was(21.36 ± 4.12).5.There was a significant positive correlation between adolescents' self-transcendence,their hope level and their various dimensions(P<0.05),as well as their subjective well-being and their respective dimensions(P <0.05).The subjective well-being of adolescents and their dimensions and the level of hope and all dimensions were positively correlated(P<0.05).6.Multiple linear stepwise regression analysis results:Whether one-child,father's education level,family relationship,hope level,subjective well-being into the regression equation,and these six independent variables explain 44% of adolescent self-transcendence levels.Conclusions1.The scale of this study has good validity and reliability,suitable for the measurement of self-transcendence level of adolescents in our country.2.Different gender,whether one-child,father's education,family relations have a certain impact on the self-transcendence level of adolescents,The higher the education level of a father,the higher the level of self-transcendence;the better the family relationship,the higher the level of adolescent self-transcendence.3.Self-transcendence of adolescents has a positive correlationwith subjective well-being and hope level,adolescents' gender,whether one-child,father's education level,family relationship,hope level and subjective well-being are the predictors of adolescent self-transcendence.Community nurses can make interventions based on self-transcendence factors to improve their self-transcendence level.
