Motor development is the most fundamental human ability throughout the individual life.As one of the significant methods in interaction between human and environment,motor development plays an important role in the one's social and psychological development.It is one of the very hot research subjects in psychology,medicine and pedagogy etc.The motor development not only affects motor skill learning,also impacts physical quality,cognition,psychology and social development.For all of that,gross motor is the foundation for the development of perception as the first developed ability of a kid.Studies indicate that the critical period of gross motor is between 3-6 years old.Scientific,effective cultivation and exercise of gross motor during that period would promote childrens' fine motor development,as well as their physical quality,intelligence,psychology and emotion etc.Reviewed the previous relevant studies,the "Test of Gross Motor Development-2" is adopted in this research,aiming to study the influence of the Balloon Volleyball game on 5-6 years old children's gross motor,combined with development law of the children's motor.A variety of Balloon Volleyball games in this research are adopted to promote childrens' gross motor development,to enrich the choices of sports activities in kindergartens,and to provide theoretical basis for the physical activity forms.The method of literature review and interview were used in this study to get a whole view of the sport skill development and the value of the Balloon Volleyball.In addition,experiment and statistics are both adopted in a game intervention experimental study carried out in the 59 5-6 years old children in Binjiang District of Hangzhou.The second edition of gross motor development scale,which is formulated by Dr.Dale A.Ulrich(Michigan State University,US,1985),TGMD-2 for short,is adopted in the gross motor development test and statistics at the second semester,before and after the intervention with experiment and video analysis mothod.Results:1.There was no significant difference in gross motor development test between the experimental group and the control group(P>0.05)before the intervention of balloon volleyball game.However,compared with the control group,the difference was significant(P<0.01)after balloon volleyball game intervention,and the effect size was large(Cohen's d>0.8).There were significant differences in the body body movement test(P<0.05),and the effect size was medium(Cohen's d>0.5);There were even greater significant differences in object controling test(P<0.01),and the effect size was large(Cohen's d>0.8).2.There were remarkable differences between the boys,experimental group and control group in the gross motor development test after the intervention(P<0.01),and the effect size was large(Cohen's d>0.8).There was visible difference in the pas de basque test(P<0.05),and the effect size was large(Cohen's d>0.8).There were obvious difference in bouncing the ball,throwing and catching balls by both hands and overhand throwing(P<0.01),and the effect size was large(Cohen's d>0.8).3.There were remarkable differences between the girls'experimental group and control group in the gross motor development test after the intervention(P<0.01),and the effect size was large(Cohen's d>0.8).There was visible difference in the throwing and catching balls by both hands(P<0.05),and the effect size was large(Cohen's d>0.8).There was obvious difference in bouncing the ball(P<0.01),and the effect size was large(Cohen's d>0.8).Conclusion:1.The 12-weeks experimental study indicates that the balloon volleyball game has effectively improved the 5-6 years old children's gross motor ability,which is superior to the original form of physical activity in the kindergarten.2.The balloon volleyball game significantly impacts 5-6 years old children's displacement ability and object controlling skills developing.Which,however,object controlling skills plays more of a role than displacement ability.3.The children's gross motor ability develops with age.An half-a-year age division has been made in the 5-6 years old children.The standard of 5.5 yeard old children's gross motor development is better than 5 years old children's.
