Along with the Reform of Compulsory Education Curriculum Standard for Mathematics, the normal teaching method can barely conform to the new curriculum standard. As a result, the primary school Mathematics class has been developing towards a more vivid and interesting direction.Integrating the gamification strategy with the primary school Mathematics teaching practice, the paper adopts the designbased research method to carry out the gamification design and practical exploration for the fourth-grade Mathematics classroom teaching in the primary schools.Based on the empirical results, the paper tentatively proposes an operational gamification model of Mathematics teaching in primary schools. The paper first defines the differences between games, educational games and gamification, and summarizes the strategies of gamification teaching design. Then, with the design-based research method, the paper takes the students in Class 2,Grade 4 of primary school in County B as the research object to implement the two rounds of itineration of gamification teaching design, application, summary and modification of Mathematics classroom teaching. The quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis(pre-test,post-test and interview)were conducted from three aspects, including learning interest, autonomous learning and collaborative learning. The problems existing in the process of gamification design are summarized, and the solutions are proposed accordingly. The research result shows that students tend to have a greater interest in learning after the gamification study, accompanied by a significant effect on cultivating the habit of autonomous learning and cooperative learning. In addition, the design mode of gamification for Mathematics teaching in primary schools is tentatively raised. It is composed by three pre-class links(situation design-level design-rule design),six links in class(Situation presentation and rule explanation-level description and knowledge transfer-group writing – presentation and evaluation – award and celebration)and two links after class(lesson summary-plan of next class).
