For English teachers,vocabulary teaching is very important because it is the first step to successful English teaching.However,there still exist some problems in English vocabulary teaching.In most English classes,vocabulary teaching is limited to traditional teaching methods.For example,many teachers just give their students the meaning of each word directly without developing students' independent learning abilities.Most students have no interest in English vocabulary learning and they lack self-learning ability and innovative ability.Guided Learning Plan,as a teaching method,has been widely used in English classes.In this thesis,the researcher applied this teaching model to guide students' English vocabulary learning and explored the following investigation questions:(1)What is the effect of Guided Learning Plan on senior high school students' vocabulary proficiency?(2)What are students' changes of attitude towards English vocabulary after the application of Guided Learning Plan?The researcher selected two classes from Grade Two in Shenyang No.10 High School.The pre-test was conducted to find out students' vocabulary level before the application of Guided Learning Plan.The post-test was employed to find out whether students' vocabulary ability has improved after the application of Guided Learning Plan.The questionnaires and interview were employed to explore whether students' attitude towards English vocabulary learning has changed after the application of Guided Learning Plan.The research findings show that the application of Guided Learning Plan has enhanced students' English vocabulary level and raised their learning interest.Some limitations of the study and pedagogical implications have been proposed in the end of the thesis.
