The report of the 19 th CPC National Congress clearly stated that “the socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era,and innovation is the primary driving force for the development.” In this new age driven by the innovation,we call for more and more talented people who are truly innovative to better serve for the construction of modern,socialist country with Chinese characteristics,and to better serve for the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party and to promote the economic development and advance social progress.As an important approach to the training of high-level talents,postgraduate education shoulders the important mission of cultivation of the high-level innovative talents.At present,a large number of postgraduates of ideological and political education majoring in colleges and universities become senior specialized personnel in national party or in the government,group organizations,teaching and research center in colleges,and the departments of student education and management.However,graduates of ideological and political education studying in colleges and universities cannot meet the needs of talents in the social and economic development.The new era has also raised new and higher requirements for the cultivation of ideological and political education graduate students.How to improve the innovative ability of postgraduates of ideological and political education in the new era has become an important issue in the study of postgraduate training in ideological and political education in universities.Therefore,to meet the needs of the development of the new era and strengthen the innovative ability for postgraduates majoring in ideological and political education is an urgent requirement to further enhance and perfect the cultivation of ideological and political education for graduate students.In order to better study the innovative ability of postgraduates majoring in ideological and political education in the new era,this paper is divided into five parts: First,the background and its significance of the topics are described,the research status at home and abroad is in the detail,and the research ideas and research methods are also put forward,which lays on the foundation for the research of the cultivation of postgraduates' innovative ability in the ideological and political education major in the new era.Secondly,we define the core concepts,especially the core concepts of the new era,the innovation,the ability to innovate,postgraduates' ability to innovate,graduate students' ability to innovate and carefully comb the Marxist ideas of innovation and profoundly expound on the basic abilities of postgraduates in ideological and political education to lay a theoretical foundation for this research.Third,through the analysis of questionnaire survey and individual interviews,we will study the innovative ability and training status of postgraduates majoring in ideological and political education.Fourth,from the aspects of individuals,schools and society,the reasons for the lack of innovative ability of ideological and political education graduate students are analyzed.Fifth,aiming at the present situation of postgraduates ' innovative ability in ideological and political education and the existing problems in their cultivation,the paper puts forward the countermeasures for the cultivation of postgraduates ' innovative ability in the new era of ideological and political education,that is,taking Xi Jinping thought on the socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics in the new era as the guidance to focus on self-improvement,strengthen the education and guidance as well as to attract a wide range of social participation.
