In recent years, under the impetus of the government and academia,Shanghai was the first city in the country to introduce a social work system in all local Third Class A hospitals.Medical social work has become one of the hottest industries in social work. Then, how do young medical social workers think about their profession? In a highly professional medical system, how do they solve the problem of "professional divisions" and carry out"professional social work"?This paper borrows role theory, selects 14 first-line young medical social workers from the top three hospitals in Shanghai as research samples, and in-depth interviews with the young medical social workers at the top three hospitals to try to explore their early career actions.Practice and role recognition reveal the possible path choices for its integration into the medical system. The study finds that in the context of the professional separation of medical systems, the practice of young social workers entering the workplace into the medical system has generally experienced three kinds of professional action experiences and role recognitions:"all-powerful," "nothing," and "something." First of all, with the drive of internal interests, external welfare, and the protection of policies and systems, young social workers do not fully understand the medical system, but they have actively started their careers with"all-powerful" expectation and confidence.Second, after a series of frustrations, this young social worker's passionate integration action and experience has fallen into a trough, which has led to self-doubt and role dilemmas of "nothing can".Finally, facing the situation of professional divisions, medical social workers based on self-enhancement,actively changing the strategies and methods of interventional medical systems, actively exploring and seeking cooperation space for social work and medical systems, and tapping and exerting the unique features of medical social work It began to receive a partial acceptance, acceptance, and affirmation of the object in the medical system. It also gained a valuable and successful "something" role in the professional subject.
